Summer at Fitz Events

Summer 2018 at Fitz Events

Summer is always busy at Fitz Events, and this year was no exception. Since the beginning of June we have worked with a number of different conferences, dinners and celebrations. We welcomed the Cancer & Metabolism Conference towards the end of June, a fantastic conference that allowed us to really show off our chefs’ talents with canapés, buffets and BBQs being served to over 180 guests over the 3 days.

We also welcomed the Cambridge Summer Music Festival into our Auditorium on 23 June. The Auditorium is equipped with theatrical lighting and sound flaps that enable it to transform from a lecture theatre into a striking music venue. The festival was a great success, with performances from local musicians and over 100 tickets sold.

We started off July with a garden party for the High Sherriff of Cambridge. With over 350 guests attending, we were keeping our fingers crossed for the heatwave to keep going long enough to let everyone enjoy the day outside. We needn’t have worried!

We provided an entirely gluten free canapé selection, with a focus on traditional British foods such as steak and chips and strawberry meringue. The day was a huge success, with a live band, ice creams and even Morris dancers coming together to create a truly British garden party.

Throughout the summer we have also had many summer schools coming through our doors. We work with many groups, including Bucksmore, Oxford Summer Courses and First UK Education, and this summer have had over 1,200 students come to have their Cambridge experience at Fitzwilliam College! Our large number of meeting rooms means we can accommodate many groups, which helps create a vibrant, campus atmosphere for the students on their visit to a Cambridge college. We host formal halls for the groups if they want to add this on, which often makes for a lovely end to a course for the students in our Dining Hall.

As we roll into September, we are already looking forward to next summer and building on everything we have done this year.
